FOREWARD TO THIS ELECTRONIC BOOK

Please read this before you begin the electronic book.

This book consists of a preface, followed by 6 maps, a narrative text that is not broken up into chapters, and a number of appendixes, all of which I will place in the proper order.  I have taken the liberty of dividing the narrative text into logical sections; however, the section concerning the battle of Waterloo will be further broken down into smaller, more manageable sections; each comprising a phase in the battle.  On some pages, there are two or more footnotes.  For very long paragraphs, having footnotes that are not close to the end of the paragraph, I have inserted the footnotes as close to the footnoted text as possible.  To ensure you will know where a new paragraph begins after a footnote, and where a paragraph is continued after a footnote, I have indented the beginning of each new paragraph.  Therefore, if the next line of text following a footnote is not indented, you will know that this is a continuation of the same paragraph and not a new paragraph.  Within the narrative, there are many footnotes directing you to see the appendixes.  If you are reading this book while it is in progress, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to you because the appendixes will not be available until after I have completed the narrative.  Also, many of the appendixes will be time-consuming the reproduce and this may delay the upload of some of them.
